The final presentation and suggested improvement went way beyond our expectations. We were so delighted with the recommendations put forward that we have been quick to implement them as soon as possible!
— Sophie Rochester CEO, Yodomo
The solution
Our team was tasked with investigating user experience and journey efficiency on Yodomo’s site.
We used tools like user research, competitor analysis and card sorting to improve customer onboarding and site-wide navigation. Our team created a functional navigation system using meganav, breadcrumbs and tags, redesigned the homepage to improve content clarity, and streamlined product offering using iconography, microcopy and content design. We delivered high-fidelity prototypes for small and large viewports, our research findings, and a suggested plan of action for Yodomo to continue to implement our work.

💪
My experience in content and storytelling helped us craft a clear messaging strategy and streamline Yodomo’s content.
💪
My technical skill set in CMSs, front-end and back-end development meant we were able to create a solution that Yodomo could implement within days of our project delivery.

Émoi
Designing a near-future physical and digital product
An exploration of multisensory communication through an edible chocolate-based language. This concept was developed independently for my Interaction Design master’s program thesis.
Toolbox
This was an interesting experimentation, and the jury was intrigued by the possibility of connecting emotions and taste/eating sensations.
— Core77 Design Awards jury
The solution
I created a speculative app, physical product and service that uses a multisensory data visualisation language to display interpersonal emotions through chocolate.

Execution
🔥
This was an exciting opportunity to venture into the world of service design, re-imagining long-standing systems and norms to find creative, out-of-the-box solutions to design problems that go beyond the screen.
⭐️
This project received the highest grade in the Interaction Design master’s program.
🍫
The project was exhibited internationally at events and workshops using custom-made chocolates produced by local chocolate artisans.

Service design
To produce this I reviewed publications on multisensory displays from the likes of MIT and XEROX-PARC. I also designed a visualisation language based on the science of cross-sensory associations. I explored competitors and conducted interviews and surveys to understand users and the industry, and to develop a service blueprint and system design for my digital solution. I iterated to a high-fidelity prototype that featured clear visual branding and motion-designed interactions. I also produced a finished physical product in the form of chocolates and packaging. And finally, to effectively communicate its concept and purpose, I used my production and storytelling skills to create a short, fun video explainer for the final product.

🏅
It ran in local and international news, and won "Student Notable" in the Speculative Concept section of Core77 Design Awards.

💪
A holistic background in user experience, visual design, media production, and content design helped me create clear branding and messaging through content, visuals, layout and structure optimisations
💗
I like teaming-up with others to help them succeed, so it was gratifying to support a client uneasy about change through a big transition - gently nudging them towards best practices by showing the benefits of new changes through examples, prototypes, usability tests, and whole lot of positive encouragement!
💗
Coming from my love of personal growth and teaching, I value projects that empower people to learn, making learning more enjoyable and accessible to everyone.
📈
The website has seen a 300% increase in user traffic over the last year (and steadily rising)
The solution
I was tasked with redesigning and rebuilding an outdated and buggy website to create a more usable, more accessible, and more visually appealing one for the client and his users.
💪
My technical skill set in CMSs, front-end and back-end development helped me advise the client on the best solutions for their needs.
Recognition
📧
The client has been regularly receiving “fan-mail” complimenting his site for its quality content (much credit to his own content creation skills here too!), its visual aesthetic, and its ease of use.
I worked on revamping this website’s navigation, information architecture, content and visual design. I referenced scientific taxonomy and used usability testing and card sorting to create a clear and easy site structure. I improved search, identification and organic discovery for a more verbose taxonomic system by using tags and informative imagery and adding clear headings and summaries. I also created a clean and clear visual style and branding that was appropriate for the product’s values and personality.
